Day 1

Arrival - Trapaing Kreal border – Preah Vihear

Today’s cross-country adventure sees us wave goodbye to Lao and cross the border to Cambodia. We arrive at Trapaing Kreal border (formerly Dong Krolor) at about 10 am and after passing through immigration we drive to Stung Treng (83 km/ 2 hours). We head straight to Sre Po village to learn about the country’s rich silk weaving heritage at the award-winning Mekong Blue project. Operated by Stung Treng Women’s Development Centre, the project forms part of an NGO that aims to elevate underprivileged women from poverty by equipping them with the tools to earn a living while keeping alive Cambodia’s silk-weaving heritage. After lunch at a local restaurant, we continue to Sra Em to check-in at the hotel. Dinner is at our leisure. Please note: Clients can receive a visa on arrival at the Cambodian border for a fee. Passports with at least a six-month validity and one ID-sized photo are needed. Overnight at Preah Vihear Boutique Hotel.

Day 2

Preah Vihear - Siem Reap

Explore the remote temples of Preah Vihear and Koh Ker as we drive from Stung Treng to Siem Reap. After breakfast at hotel, we jump in a 4x4 for an exhilarating drive up Dangrek Mountain to visit Preah Vihear temple. The UNESCO World Heritage Site is a series of impressive structures built between the 9th and 12th century by several kings that run up the mountain slopes. Spectacular views can be enjoyed from its peak. After lunch, we hit the road for Koh Ker (137 km/ three hours). Sitting as the capital of the Angkor Empire from 928 to 944, it comprises a series of temples and monuments dotted throughout 81 km-sq of jungle. Only a few temples are open to visitors, with Prasat Krahom and Prasat Thom being the most visited. We then continue to our final destination, Siem Reap (122 km/three hours).
