We head to the ancient capital of the Kingdom of Siam, Ayutthaya. We start our exploration into the area’s rich history at Bang Pa-In, the summer palace of King Rama V that blends a variety of architectural styles and is nestled in a sprawling park surrounded by waterways. The palace was first used by the royal court as a summer retreat in the 17th century. It was destroyed with the fall of Ayutthaya and later restored by King Rama IV in the mid-19th century. After lunch, we visit Wat Ratchaburana and Chao Sam Phraya Museum. In 1957, a large number of Buddha images and gold artefacts were looted from the temple’s crypt. The thieves were caught and a few treasures recovered, which are housed in the museum (closed Monday, Tuesday and public holidays, when a visit to the Thai Boat Museum will replace this attraction). We visit Ayothaya Floating Market and enjoy snacks sold at stalls that line the canal before check-in at the hotel. Overnight at Kantary Hotel Ayutthaya.

Travel breaks down borders and brings people together: The nearly 900 million people who travel every year make the sector one of the biggest in the world, a major employer and a key element in the global economy. But this has its downside, too: increasing pollutant emissions from the tourist traffic, loss of coastlines and other landscapes through excessive building development and sexual exploitation of children are just some of the negative consequences of the growth in global tourist travel. In order to minimize the negative impacts and enhance the positive ones, our Corporate Responsibility Strategy focuses on four prime issues:
