SHANXI, CHINA
Arrive in Taiyuan, the capital city of Shanxi and meet with your guide.
Start the day with a visit to Shanxi Museum, the largest museum and cultural building in Shanxi, the home to about 400,000 cultural relics and 110,000 old books. (Closed on Monday)
After lunch, step into Jin Ancestral Temple, founded in Tang Dynasty about 1,400 years ago as one of earliest royal garden in China. It is the most prominent temple in Shanxi, with its architectures, murals and sculptures of Tang Dynasty that are of high value in arts and history.
Tonight, enjoy a leisure stroll in the Food Street of Taiyuan, where you can enjoy local snacks not only from Shanxi but also from other cities of China.

TAIYUAN PULLMAN TAIYUAN HOTEL
A 2.5 hours’ drive takes you to Zhangbi Castle, one of the rarest and unique displays of traditional urban planning in Chinese history. The town’s residential, shopping and religious areas are all built within a beautifully designed Chinese-style castle complex. Stroll through the labyrinth of mysterious tunnels that meander extensively underneath the town. An inconspicuous entrance inside an ordinary local home that leads to a fascinating underground world spread across three levels that once served as defense tunnels after its completion at the end of the Sui dynasty (581AD to 619AD).
Drive to Yuncheng, en route make a stop at Jishan, a hidden county in west Shanxi, where you will be surprised by the beautiful murals in the Song Jin Grave. It consists of 14 brick tombs in a shape of quadrangle, some of which were built with caves, pavilion, and palace. The walls of the underground palace were decorated with beautiful murals, which show the ancient lifestyle and emphasis on arts at that time.

YUNCHENG JIANGUO HOTEL 5*
This morning, we will take an excursion to the nearby city of Yongji, which is about 1 hour’s drive away from Yuncheng. Start with Pujiu Temple, the place where Chinese classical masterpiece “The Romance of West Chamber” was written. Learn more about the romantic love story.
See firsthand the impressive Yellow River Grand Iron Bulls sculptures, originally part of a floating bridge that sunk and was forgotten to time.
After lunch, take the journey back to Yuncheng. En route, stop by Yongle Palace in Ruicheng County. Yongle Palace was one of the earliest Taoist palace and temple existing today as well as the most intact building complex of the Yuan Dynasty with most of the murals still well preserved in the palace.

YUNCHENG JIANGUO HOTEL 5*
In the morning, visit Guan Yu Temple. Built in 589 AD, the Guan Yu Temple is one of the largest Guan Yu temples in China. Guan Yu, born in Hai County of Yuncheng, was a famous general in the period of Three Kingdom. After his death, he was enshrined as the god of warriors.
