In its heyday, Shanghai became known as “The Paris of the East.” Take a seat in our vintage convertible jeep to travel back in time and explore a few of this magnificent old mansionsspread out in a labyrinth of greenery and admire its very rich Art Deco heritage while walking in the corridors and banquet rooms of the former“French Club.”
As this is a private ride, you set the pace. Your driver will accompany you based upon what you want to see and how long you want to stop. And if you see something you like along the route, just yell STOP! Your wish is our command. Our rides can accommodate up to 4 passengers by jeep from birth to 99 years old.

The Little Paris Ride by jeep
In the heart of Shanghai’s Former French Concession, your driver meets you in a relaxed and minimally stylish café, the “Bitter café.” Share your expectations and specific requests while your driver introduces you, thanks to an old 1932 map to both the geography and history of the city and your tailor-made itinerary. Buckle up, put on your sunglasses, and start your ride into the city’s most stylish neighborhood.
From stunning Art Deco buildings to an impressive mansion once home to Shanghai’s most notorious gangster, we take you on enchanting time-travel in the old French district known as ‘the Paris of the East.’
Step in history as you walk into one of the most prominent landmarks erected by the French. Surrounded by mature trees, this former 1926 sports club still features the glittering gold mosaics, polished marble pillars, and dramatic staircase that made such an impression when the club first opened. Drive under a cathedral arch of plane trees to those hidden-in-plain-sight secret alleys. Discover splendid constructions designed by Laszlo Hudec, the most famous architect of the 20th century in Shanghai, such as the first 1924 French Renaissance-style building of gallery corridor type in Shanghai, a modern western apartment resembling a sailing ship and Italian, British or Spanish-style buildings of great historical interest. Stop at the former mansion hosting the headquarters of the Municipal French Council, this “Little White House” reveals a beautiful example of the French Renaissance architecture in a very well preserved street.
After this last stop, your driver will take you back to the “Bitter café” or any other place in the Former French Concession.

- Each car can take up to 4 passengers. Should people be more than 4, extra vehicle need to be booked. Price for each vehicle is RMB 2500

Our rides start from the Bitter Café in the Former French Concession (Wuyuan Road 58).CUSTOM MEETING POINT : Hotel pick-up and drop-off service comes at an extra cost. Just provide us with your pick-up location during the booking process. A transfer service to/from the train station or the airport is also available upon request
- Rides of 9 jeeps or less (max. 36 pax) start from Bitter (上海市徐汇区常熟路附近五原路 58 号). Rides of more than 10 jeeps start from the Hubin/Ji’an road parking lot.
- Private transfers with English-speaking guide from departure point to venue point and back are not included in the rates.
- We reserve the right to adjust the rates if the fuel cost increase by over 10% within the contract period.
- Minor program changes are sometimes necessary, depending on local conditions.
- Prices are subject to change.
- Expect to spend about 70% of the time driving and 30% exploring on foot.
- For legal & safety reasons, you are not allowed to drive a jeep.
